Drive Change in Mobile: Helping Neighbors Access Vital Benefits

Our mission, our story, and why this work matters locally.

How we started

Cruise Forward began in the heart of Mobile, where our founders realized a critical gap in the community: many eligible families were unaware of the benefits programs available to them. Over coffee at a local café, they discussed how vehicles, often an unused asset, could be a key to bridging this gap. Thus, the idea was born to establish a vehicle donation program that would directly fund a service dedicated to helping neighbors find support they need.

As we launched our initiative, we engaged with local residents, listening to their struggles and triumphs. This grassroots approach not only helped to refine our mission but solidified our commitment to building a stronger, more informed community. With each donated vehicle, we create a pathway to connect families with essential benefits like SNAP and Alabama Medicaid, ensuring that no one is left behind in our beautiful port city.

Our mission

At Cruise Forward, our mission is to empower Mobile residents by connecting them with essential benefits programs such as SNAP, Alabama Medicaid, TANF, WIC, and LIHEAP. We strive to eliminate the barriers that prevent individuals and families from accessing the support they deserve. Through our vehicle donation program, we ensure every resident has the opportunity to thrive in their community. Together, we can uplift our neighbors and create a network of support that strengthens Mobile.

Our principles

Why this city

Mobile is a vibrant city filled with diverse neighborhoods like Toulminville, Theodore, and downtown, where community spirit thrives. However, many residents face barriers to accessing crucial benefits. Studies show that significant numbers of families in our area remain unenrolled in programs like WIC and LIHEAP, often out of lack of information. By focusing our efforts here, we aim to address these enrollment gaps and ensure that residents can access the support they need to lead fulfilling lives.
